Overview
General Motors unveiled the all-new 2024 Chevy Blazer EV in July, debuting a fresh entry for the mass-market all-electric crossover segment. Chevrolet introduced the iconic Blazer back in 1969, and it has been one of the most popular and best-selling SUVs ever since. The new Chevy Blazer EV, all new from the ground up built to be a quick, quiet, and efficient electric vehicle. It’s an affordable mid-sized SUV.
The Blazer EV will be offered in four trims: 1LT, 2LT, RS and Chevy’s first-ever electric SS performance model. In addition to the “civilian” models of the new Blazer EV, Chevrolet will offer a specially developed Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) models.
The Standard Blazer EV models will compete with the likes of the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y, and the Blazer SS EV will have tough competition with the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, Tesla Model Y Performance and even against high-performance models like the Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-PACE. Buyers may also consider the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, or Volkswagen ID.4.
Clearly, the offering is a hit with the public and sold at a pace that prompted the shutting down of reservations. Chevrolet has confirmed that it is no longer accepting reservations for the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV. "We've met our reservation goal and will resume reservations closer to the production launch," Chevy said.
Now that we’ve gotten your attention, let’s take a closer look at Chevrolet’s latest electric vehicle.

Chevrolet offers a variety of powertrain options in the new Blazer EV. The 1LT and 2LT trims come standard with Front Wheel Drive. According to the Chevrolet, the 1LT provides 247 miles (398 km) of range, and the 2LT can reach up to 293 miles (472 km) in specific configurations. The RS trim has a range of up to 320 miles (515 km).
Chevrolet hasn’t released horsepower figures for the 1LT, 2LT, or RS models yet, but the range-topping SS model will come exclusively with a up to 648 pound-feet of torque and 557 hp electric powertrain with standard all-wheel drive. That model, according to Chevy, will hit 60 mph (96 km) in under 4.0 seconds.
When it comes to charging performance, the Blazer EV delivers with an 11.5 kW onboard AC charging module for home charging and public charging, along with high-speed DC public fast-charging capability of up to 190 kW, enabling recharging of up to 78 miles (126 km) of range to be added in approximately 10 minutes.
The Exterior Design
The all-electric 2024 Blazer EV’s innovative, dynamic and athletic styling is infused with Chevrolet’s performance DNA to create an expressive design unlike anything else in the segment.
Each of the Blazer EV’s trims share a muscular, athletic profile enabled by the Ultium Platform, including taut, converging body lines. The distinctive trims take on their own characters. The LT features a monochromatic appearance and standard 19-inch wheels, while the RS strikes a sportier presence with a black grille and other black accents, along with standard 21-inch wheels.
The SS serves up the most aggressive aesthetic, with a unique front grille, two-tone color scheme featuring a black roof and A-pillars that complement the Blazer EV’s body color pallet, standard 22-inch wheels and more.
Designers elevated the Blazer EV’s presence further on the RS and SS with a bold, dual-element LED exterior lighting signature that also has choreographed lighting sequences, which activate when the driver approaches or walks away. Speaking of automatic doors, the crossover can be equipped with a power liftgate that opens when you approach. Regardless of which trim is selected, all Blazer EVs come with a powered charging port door that automatically opens when pressed.
The Chevy Blazer EV's exterior colors consist of 8 eye-catching paint colors as follows:
- Summit White
- Black
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
- Sterling Gray Metallic
- Radiant Red Metallic
- Red Hot
- Galaxy Gray Metallic
- Riptide Blue Metallic
RS and SS trims are available with a two-tone paint scheme, but you can also get it with the 1LT and 2LT if that's your thing.

A refined cabin also makes a modern design statement. Like the exterior, many of its elements draw inspiration from Chevrolet’s sports cars and performance heritage, such as a flat-bottom steering wheel for the RS and SS trims and sculpted vents inspired by turbines.
All models come with a large 17.7-inch infotainment display that’s canted slightly toward the driver and framed on the left and the bottom by physical controls for the climate control system and a volume knob. A secondary 11.0-inch display presents the driver with gauges and other driving info.
Chevrolet hasn’t said anything about the Blazer EV’s infotainment system, but we’re guessing that it’s General Motors latest, which is Android Auto-based. We expect to see plenty of standard connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an on-board Wi-Fi hotspot.
There are also many additional internal features:
- Namely Two-row layout with ample spaciousness and storage options, thanks to a flat floor enabled by packaging of the Ultium Platform.
- Standard ambient lighting with personalization function on RS and SS trims.
- Unique RS and SS trim and design cues, including blue and red contrasting stitching on the RS, and sueded microfiber seating on the SS, with Adrenaline Red seating surfaces and available Argon Orange accents.
- Heated and ventilated front seats on RS and SS, along with heated rear outboard seating positions that are standard on SS and available on RS.
Available Blazer EV interior colors are:
- Adrenaline Red.
- Black.
- Medium Ash Gray with Argon Orange Accents.
The Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Chevrolet is bundling a host of driver assistance features together as standard, including automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and a parking assist feature. General Motors Super Cruise hands-free driving system is also available.
